New free MP3

We're going to be making more of the Khmer Fusion music available for free online, starting right now with our song Juno Katah, featuring the lovely and extremely talented Savi. Enjoy!

Khmer Fusion at Dartmouth

The Khmer Fusion lecture/demonstration at Dartmouth was a resounding success. Working with Ben Cantil (an excellent electronic musician and fellow student at the Berklee College of Music), Theodore Levin (ethnomusicologist, professor, and all-around nice guy) and the rest of the people who helped us out at Dartmouth was a pleasure of the highest order, and we hope to come back in the future. Further, we are positively delighted to announce we have connected with Khmer master tro player Ben Pan from Lowell, Massachusetts, and are beginning formulating plans to play more shows in the United States!

Seriously, you have no idea how happy this makes us. Big things are coming soon.

Dartmouth Lecture/Demonstrations

The Khmer Fusion Project featuring tro master Ben Pan and laptop jockey Ben Cantil will be putting on a couple of lecture/demo sessions at Dartmouth College this Thursday. The first session will be from 10AM to noon, and the second will be from 2PM to 4PM. Both sessions will be in the Faulkner Recital Hall.

More info and pictures soon.

Its been too long

If we are so fortunate to have anyone who frequently checks our website for new posts and updates, I apologize for having not been more diligent with news. It's been since September since the last post, and there is indeed new info to share. Parker, (the bassist), is at Dartmouth College in New Hampsire and has spoken with one of the ethnomusicology people there. It looks like we will probably be able to do a performance in mid-May up there. Hopefully we'll be able to find an interested musician from the large Cambodian population in Lowell MA to do perform with us and get our Khmer music chops back into gear. This is very exciting, seeing as music is always better live, and we desperately need more opportunities to get the word, and more importantly the music, out to the public. If you are in the New England area, please email us about inquiries on that performance or other performance opportunities. We will also post the date and location of any shows as soon as we know for sure.

Beau, (the drummer), and me, (the guitarist), are now studying at the Berklee college of music in Boston. We have yet to exploit the multitude of musical connections and oppotunities available here as we are swamped with school work, but will definatley be getting on it soon. We have continued to slowly sell the thousand CDs we had pressed. We need to sell 200 or so more to recuperate the production costs, and then we can begin sending proceeds back to the musicians and NGOs in Cambodia that helped us make this wonderful album. If you are checking out this website for the first time, be sure to listen to our MP3s and buy a copy or two of our disc if you like what you here.

Parker, Beau and I will all be back in the San Francisco bay area this summer. We intend to pick up the slack on KFP publicity as well as pursue some new musical ideas that have been perculating since the release of the Khmer Fusion Project. As always, if you or anyone you know might be interested in our project, performances, and anything else involving KFP or Cambodian music, please email us. Seeing as we all go to school on the east coast now, we are available to do performances, radioshows, and make any other appearances on both coasts depending on the season. Hope all is well for you unusual-music lovers out there. Keep listening, and please send us your comments, thoughts and inquiries at info@khmerfusion.com. Peace.
